
Jose holds a PhD in Computer Vision, done jointly at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the Xerox Research Centre Europe (XRCE), and prior to joining BBVA was manager of the Machine Learning Area at XRCE. He has published articles in top-tier journals and conferences (e.g. IEEE Trans. PAMI, IJCV, NeurIPS, CVPR, or ICCV), is an inventor in over 20 patents. At BBVA he has co-led the Advisory and Predictive Models team, which released products for the BBVA app such as text categorization and large-scale forecasting. Later, he managed the Cross-Domain Analytics program taking care of an internal graph analytics project and the inner source movement. He is experienced with doing the journey from research and innovation to products, and is currently leading the Data Science Prototypes initiative.
